The Gascony region is renowned for its excellence in food and drink to name just a few specialities such as the famous Armagnac, Pate Foie Gras (goose liver), escargots (snails) and the local drink ‘Floc de Gascogne’.
You can visit one of the many ‘chateaux’ with their vineyards in the area, or follow one of the tempting wine routes. Enjoy a simple meal in the open air in one of the nearby ‘bastides’ (13th/14th century walled town), visit one of the local markets or enjoy one of the music festivals such as the Jazz Festival in Marciac in August.
You can find small sandy beaches by the nearby lakes, or visit one of the spa towns. You can hike or bike in the so-called Tuscany of France’, or maybe you will meet a pilgrim on route to Santiago de Compostella. There are also four golf courses in the area, where you can play a game for a reasonable price.
